How awesome and evolutionary of a system

its free and there is no locking into anything.

They are signing people up for free in the beginning so that there is a client base for when they start trading and buyers and sellers start using the platform. It could be worthwhile and is risk free.

Initiative Q is an attempt by ex-PayPal guys to create a new payment system instead of payment cards that were designed in the 1950s.
